VinFast VF6: Detailed Overview of the New Electric SUV in India
Hello friends, welcome! The Indian electric vehicle market is growing quite well, and many EV vehicles are being liked by Indian consumers. A new Vietnamese company, VinFast, has recently been introduced in India, and they have launched two of their most anticipated cars in the market.
Among these, the most accessible model at a competitive price point is the VF6. This car offers an impressive range of approximately 500 km on a single charge. Interestingly, even the base variant comes equipped with a larger battery pack, similar to what we see in the top-end variants, but at a more affordable price.
Exterior Design and Road Presence
Looking at the side profile, the height of the vehicle is quite good. It is designed as a tall SUV, providing a commanding road presence. The rear profile is unique and cute, featuring a coupe-style SUV design that looks massive and amazing on the road.
Front Profile and Lighting
The front is defined by signature V-shaped LED Daytime Running Lights (DRLs). At the bottom, you find the LED projector headlamp setup and pattern indicators. The front also houses parking sensors and a 360-degree camera. Since the car comes with Level 2 ADAS, you can also see the radar placement here.
Side and Rear Details
The VF6 features body-colored side mirrors with integrated cameras for the 360° view. It sits on 18-inch alloy wheels with 225/50 tires. A key safety feature is that it provides disc brakes on both front and rear wheels.
On the top, there is a sharp fin antenna and a panoramic glass roof (Moonroof). The roofline is sloppy, giving it a sporty look, yet there is plenty of space inside. At the rear, the connecting tail-light is split by the 'V' logo, and the bumper features a rugged black finish with parking sensors and a rear-view camera.
Interior, Technology, and Comfort
The interior of the VinFast VF6 is very modern and driver-oriented. You won't find traditional meters here; instead, everything is managed through the massive 12.9-inch infotainment system. The screen is slightly tilted towards the driver for better accessibility.
- Infotainment & Controls: The screen displays driving data, climate control (Dual Zone AC), and current range. For example, at 65% charge, it shows a 301 km range. You can even play games on it!
- Head-Up Display (HUD): Instead of a traditional cluster, a proper HUD projects speed and critical info onto the windshield.
- Seating: The car features 6-way electrically adjustable seats with ventilation and premium brown soft-touch material on the doors.
Space and Practicality
In the second row, the legroom is quite good. While the under-thigh support is decent, some might find the floor a bit high. It features three adjustable headrests, a center armrest with unique cup holders, rear AC vents, and two USB ports. The boot space is generous at 423 liters and comes with 60:40 split rear seats for extra storage.
Performance, Battery, and Safety
The VF6 is powered by a 59.6 kWh battery pack. Here is how the performance differs across variants:
- Earth (Base): Generates 174 BHP and offers 468 km range.
- Wind & Wind Infinity: Generates 201 BHP and offers 463 km range.
Charging: With a DC fast charger, it takes only 25 minutes to charge from 10% to 70%. For safety, the car is equipped with 6 to 7 standard airbags and a full ADAS suite.
Variants and Pricing
The VinFast VF6 is available in three variants in India:
| Variant | Approx. Price |
